The first Saturday in September is always the Alresford Show. A truly local agricultural show attended by more than 10,000 people. If you like cows, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, etc the live versions will be there. You will be able to see both the latest and oldest farm machinery. There are displays in the main arena by people, animals, machinery and combinations there of. A horse show with jumping, dressage and other styles of horse riding competitions will be found at another arena. There will be oodles of food, drink and vegetation, some of which you will be allowed to consume. And others you will just be able to look at and judge for yourself.
Charmingly Tichborne Park Cricket Club will be playing a game of cricket in the middle of the show ground. It is their pitch after all.
I have been for many years as a member of Alresford Pigs Association who organise the car parking, entrances and something else we try not tell anyone about. The Pigs do this with the help of many local sports clubs, pre-schools and other groups. We are the guys in pink and blue (for those not brave enough to wear pink) polo shirts. You will also spot the Alresford Rotary Club at work to but we are nothing to do with each other although we do sometimes have something to do with each other.
I am sure the weather will be good enough. And as long as it’s not too hot or too cold or too wet it’s worth going. Unfortunately I will be elsewhere. See 10th Anniversary Auctions in a Day
